Rocky Mountain Skin Care

Facials are so much more than an hour of indulgent spa pampering; they also have incredible benefits to the health and wellness of your skin and are essential for short and long term vitality. When taking a look at all of the regular visits you make (dentist, doctor, hair salon, gym), you’ll quickly realize that some time should be focused on your skin–even if it’s just when seasons change. Our skin is most vulnerable at the turn of the seasons as it goes through extreme changes from humid to dry, and cool to warm. Help your skin by tweaking your regime just a bit, and start feeling and seeing the full potential of your skin!

Here are a few reasons we take special care for our skin in the Rocky Mountains…

Extractions to polish/purify pores

Ok, let’s talk guilty pleasures…  Who doesn’t love extracting blackheads and pimples?!  Most people enjoy it.  Unfortunately, poorly extracted skin (or ‘picking pimples’) is the reason so many people have facial scarring, broken capillaries and ongoing acne flare-ups. The art of facial extractions is a delicate procedure that must be done hygienically on clean skin and with care by a professional. Your skin will breathe better, look healthier and suffer fewer breakouts if you schedule regular time to care for your skin. A trained spa aesthetician is the best person for the job.

Masks and peels support a healthy complexion

With good intentions to maintain a good skin care regimen, many of us do regularly cleanse, moisturize, and (hopefully) apply an SPF- daily!  But, so often, life gets busy and doing deep cleansing and masking treatments slide to the back burner or off the cooker entirely!  During a facial, your skin will be steamed to open pores, extracted and then prepared for a mask or two. Depending on your personalized needs, a custom mask or peel may be used to brighten, calm, hydrate, plump, or decongest the skin.

Anti-aging starts now

Whether you are nine or 99, it’s always a good time to care for your skin- it is, after all, the largest organ in the body.  Establishing a steady regimen earlier in life will set you up for success! Because we only have one face, we really need to take care of it. Getting regular facials will promote cell turnover, boost collagen production, nourish and support all season wellness, and maintain a healthy balance for your skin… all of which are great anti-aging remedies.

Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate!

Our skin also thrives with water-so drink as much as you can, it’s so important!

Just Add Salt – Halotherapy

In the 1800’s a Polish doctor discovered that the men working in the Polish salt mines rarely suffered from breathing, sinus, or respiratory conditions. Salt therapy rooms, like ours at Waterside Day Spa, recreates or mimics the same environment of a salt mine by increasing the density of salt air with a halogenerator.

Surrounded by naturally antibacterial and antimicrobial salt, the salt rooms become a sterile environment, making them one of the cleanest places to relax and rejuvenate. Part of what makes our salt suite unique is 750 lbs of Himalayan salt on the wall, along with the halogenerator, which works to eliminate allergens, asthma, COPD, chronic bronchitis, ear infections, and stress, while also boosting your immune system and helping you to sleep better and feel more energized throughout the day.

The negative ion environment that this creates is what makes out salt room so relaxing.
Thunderstorms, waterfalls, snow, and waves crashing on the beach are all examples of negative ion environments. Positive ions are found in dust, humidity, and pollution. Positive ions are also emitted from electronics such as cells phones, tv’s, and microwaves. This room is completely free of those pollutants and toxins we are surrounded by daily.

During your salt therapy (halotherapy) session, try alternating breaths between your nose and your mouth. When breathing thru your nose, try alternating nostrils for 3-4 breaths at a time. This will help the salt aerosol travel the best throughout your entire respiratory tract to increase those fabulous anti-inflammatory benefits!

Once a week is ideal to keep your immune system strong. However, please not that halotherapy is not recommended when sick, contagious, or coming down with a cold. It is most effective when used as a health routine to prevent the cold, flu, and other viruses.

Returning from COVID – Protocols for Salon/Spa

Dear Friends,

We are so delighted to be reopening our doors to you after a six weeks of being closed. Hoping everyone had time to relax, create, play, practice, design, and connect with yourself and loved ones.

Since we are one of the first industries that if officially permitting leniency in the 6 feet of social distancing, since providing personal services is impossible without contact, we are taking extra protocols to ensure that everyone is made safe. Here’s our plan!

  • Staff members must self screen for COVID-19 every day, including measuring the employee’s temperature. Waterside Day Spa shall keep records that the screen was completed by having staff members sign a record that the symptom check has been completed. Any employee that exhibits COVID-19 symptoms will be excluded from work.
  • All employees and customers must cover their nose and mouth with a face- covering at all times. This includes while receiving massage, hair and nail services. If you require a face mask that does not interfere with your hair color being applied, washed, or styled – we have some beautiful locally crafted masks for purchase.
  • Signs (and official Mitigation Protocols, as required by Routt County) will be posted at the entrance of Waterside Day Spa & Salon informing all staff members and customers that they must avoid entering the facility if they have a cough or fever, maintain a minimum six-foot distance from one another when possible, sneeze and cough into a cloth or tissue or, if not available one’s elbow, not shake hands, or engage in any unnecessary physical contact.
  • Staff members have all signed off on receiving and understanding these Mitigation Protocols prior to being permitted to work.
  • Sanitizer stations are available right at the entrance to Waterside Day Spa & Salon at the front desk, along with on each hair or nail station. Two restrooms are also available with soap and water.  Everyone entering our business is asked to please wash or sanitize their hands before greeting your service provider.
  • Other high-touch surfaces will be regularly disinfected and environmental cleaning guidelines from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will be followed (e.g., clean and disinfect high touch surfaces daily or more frequently). We always use hospital grade disinfectants.
  • Additional time has been allocated in between all services to fully sanitize all counters, chairs, tables, and treatments supplies before the next guest arrives.
  • All stations and seating areas open to the public are at a minimum of 6 feet apart.
  • Doors will be propped open to increase natural air flow, when weather permits.
  • Hospital grade HEPA air filters are used throughout our business.

Information and regular updates are being shared at www.covid19routtcounty.com. The county’s forum for COVID-19 discussions is at https://www.facebook.com/routtcounty/ and the
local
call center phone number is 970-871-8444.
